Happy Halloween!

Hey, what's up, dogs?  Just a quick post to wish you all a HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Here's a picture of my costume.  This year I decided to dress up as...THE "BARK" KNIGHT.

Apparently it was well received.  A few days ago, Jerry and Ben notified me that I'd won a prize in their Annual Halloween Costume Contest!  Thanks very much guys!

Hope everybody has a very fun and very safe Halloween this year...

4H show--What dogs can do...plus, my favorite part of the fair

Hey, what's up, dogs?  Just wanted to finish up our 4H festival thread, which was interrupted when my human unexpectedly took Spunky and me on our trip to San Antonio.

Anyway, at the 4H fair, there was a tent specifically for dog-related activities:  obedience testing and relays, agility races, and so on.

Hmmm.  The other dogs are all impressive, in their own way.  But I bet none of them can write a blog!

(*grrrrrooooooooowwwwwwwlllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll*)

"Good heavens!" Grandpa Angus exclaimed.  "What was that?"

Whoops...sorry.  That was my stomach.  I guess I'm getting hungry.

"Well, let's hurry and get you some grub, laddie!" Grandpa said.

So we headed for the midway and the food stands, checking out some more sights along the way.  We saw some stuffies waiting to go home with their new owners...

And also a juggler.  He was fun to watch.  I've never tried doing this, but Ajdin has done it before

Here's where all the little humans were playing...

And finally, we came to our destination:  the food stands.

"So, what would you like, laddie?" Grandpa asked.

Oh my gosh.  There are so many choices!  I don't know what I should eat first!

Cheesesteak sounds good.  Or maybe I'll have meatballs.  Or...

Wait, wait, WAIT.  What is THAT over there???....
Oh...my...goodness.  These are the doggone biggest bones I've ever seen.  Hey, Grandpa!  You gotta see  this!

Grandpa's eyes grew wide.

"Oh my stars!" he exclaimed.

I can't think of a better way to end our 4H experience than with a huge, juicy, meaty bone.  I'm going to have to sign off for now, because I'm drooling too much to talk...but we'll see you next time!  Hope you enjoyed!

Mail from Ajdin

Hey dogs, what's up?  Got some mail to share with you today.  Ajdin sent an Elvis postcard from his recent trip to Graceland.

He also sent along our prize from the summer photo contest that he sponsored:  a sheet of SALMON WARS stickers, and a package of Gummi Bears!  Yum.

I wonder why they don't make Gummi Dogs?  Meh...on second thought, that doesn't sound too appetizing.

I've got a lot of catch-up posting to do, so stay tuned...more soon...

Destination revealed!

Hey, what's up, dogs?  We are BACK from our human's vacation!!...and I can't wait to tell you where I got to go.  Grandpa Angus couldn't come because of his rheumatism, and Patch...well...he has a fear of flying.  So Spunky and I tagged along with our human as she went to a conference in...

...San Antonio, Texas!  This town is famous for its Riverwalk.  There are lots of cafes and restaurants all along the river, and you can pay to ride on a boat all through the town.

And here's the most important landmark in San Antonio:  the Alamo.

Spunky looked confused.

"Where's the ice cream?" he asked.

Huh?

Spunky said, "I thought they always said, 'Remember the A La Mode!' "

Um.  I think you may have misunderstood, Spunky.  It's "Remember the Alamo," not "Remember the A La Mode."

"Oh.  So...no ice cream?"

Nope.

Spunky looked disappointed.  Oh dear.  We'll have to do something to fix that later.

Regardless, this is a very historic place.  An important battle was fought here in 1836, as Texas fought for its independence from Mexico.  It was a true underdog story--fewer than 300 Texans against 5000 Mexican troops.

Two of the most famous fighters on the Texan side were Doggie Crockett and James Bowwow.  As you can see, Doggie Crockett is very famous.  There are a lot of gift store items dedicated to him.

Oo, oo!  A coonskin cap, just like the one worn by Doggie Crockett!  I wonder how I'd look in one of those?

Errrrm...I don't think this is going to work.  Too bad.

Spunky still seems disappointed about the lack of ice cream.  Hey, Mom?  Let's fix that now, okay?

Ahh.  Much better.  San Antonio is still really hot this time of year!

Hope you enjoyed our little ramble through San Antonio.  We'll be returning to our regularly scheduled programming starting next week.  Until next time...

A quick note--vacation hiatus

Hey, what's up, dogs?  Just a note to let you know, I haven't forgotten to post this week.  Actually, my human finally gave in and decided to take me on a trip...somewhere.  Where?  You'll find out after I get back.  Isn't this exciting??

See you all soon!
