A shock for Spunky

Hey, what's up dogs?

Sorry for the delay in updates.  I usually try not to let more than a week go by between posts, but this week was different.  Patch and I have been supporting Spunky, who is having a bit of a nervous breakdown.

Just a little one, mind you.

Spunky:  "Enough with the small jokes already!"

Oh dear.  He's even more sensitive than usual today.

Patch, please keep an eye on him while I bring our readers up to speed on what happened.

Well, it started out innocently enough with a knock at the door.

When Spunky answered it, he found himself looking at three very...familiar faces.

"SURPRISE!" they chorused.

"W-w-who are you?"  Spunky sputtered.

Happy President's Day.

My fellow Dogmericans--

Greetings and salutations.  If I seem more serious than usual, it is because today is President's Day, and I have decided to pay tribute to one of our greatest Presidents, Abraham Lincoln.

He was known, of course, as "Honest Abe," and one of his most famous speeches was the Gettysburg Address, which begins as follows...

Ahem.  Excuse me for a minute, I need to find an audience.

Ah, that's better.

Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all Dogs are created equal...

You can read the full text of his speech here.  I highly recommend it!

Who is your favorite President?

You've got mail (or, Maple Bacon Heaven!)

Hey, what's up dogs?  Something very interesting happened last week.  My human handed me a package that arrived in the mail.

I wonder if it's the Elvis CD I bought on EBay?  I recently ordered the collector's edition of "Hound Dog," which, in my humble opinion, was his greatest song ever.

Aha!  It's not "Hound Dog," but it's even better.  It's a package from Little Fox!  He's sent some treats--our prize from the 1st Annual Stuffy Film Festival.

Let's see...we have some peach lemonade.  Sounds delicious!  There's also a packet of capu...capu... capu-whatsits?  My human informs me that it's a tasty hot coffee beverage which may make me hyper.  Hmmm...I'm very curious now.

And...what's this?

A lollipop!  But it's not just any lollipop.  Do you see what it says on the wrapper?

It's a MAPLE BACON lollipop!  Oh, I have to try this right now.

(*crinkle crinkle rip rip CRUNCH*)

Mmm.  Oh wow.  I am in Maple Bacon Heaven right now.

I offered my human a taste of my lollipop, but she declined.  I guess humans don't like secondhand doggie pops.

Anyway, thank you so much Little Fox!  The treats really made our day.

Till next time!

A closer look...

Hey, what's up dogs?  Today my human has found a new toy for me to play with.  It's a magnifying glass!

Whenever I think of magnifying glasses, I think of those great detectives, Sherlock Holmes and Sherlock Sandy, who use them to look for clues.

I have found that this magnifying glass is very useful for examining small details.  Observe...

This print is awfully tiny and hard to read.  But with the power of the magnifying glass, I can make it out, no problem.

This dollar bill seems really suspicious to me.  How do I know if someone's given me "funny money"?  The magnifying glass lets me check for tiny features in the paper, so I can tell whether it's counterfeit.

Hmm.  I wonder what other small things I can enlarge with this magnifying glass?...

Spunky:  "HEY!  Cut it out!"

Whoops.  Better put it away!

Till next time!

Happy GroundDog Day!

Hello, dogs across America!  This is your favorite news reporting team, Droopy Jennings and Spunky Cronkite.  Today is February 2nd--also known as GroundDog Day--and we're live at the home of Punxsutawney Patch.

According to legend, if he wakes up and sees his shadow on the ground, we will have 6 more weeks of winter.  We're both tired of winter already, so hopefully he predicts an early spring.

Ooooh, wait, I think I see him now!  Yes, here he comes!  Let's watch and see what happens.

Will he or won't he?  The suspense is killing us!

Doggone it!  He saw his shadow!  That means six more weeks of winter.  *sigh*

"Sorry, guys," Patch said.  "But spring will come around eventually.  It always does."

I guess we can't argue with that...

What are your plans for the spring?
